Starting in 2016, Disney Cruise Lines will begin holding a Star Wars days on the Disney Fantasy. Passengers will get to meet and have their photo taken with characters like Chewbacca and Bobba Fett. The Star Wars cruise ship will also be boarded by Darth Vader with Stormtroopers in tow. Whether they’ll still be looking for the stolen Death Star plans is not known. The ship’s night club will be made up to look like the Mos Eisley cantina, and cruisers will get their chance to show off their own costumes at the Star Wars deck party with music, dancing, fireworks, and appropriately enough: lasers.
The younglings will delight in the Star Wars themed activities and games that will be taking place in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab. They can hone their lightsaber techniques at the onboard Jedi Training academy. Screenings of Star Wars films and Disney’s animated series Star Wars Rebels will also feature. Finally, it offers a unique venue to watch Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens which debuts in theaters on December 18, 2015.

A more lasting Star Wars themed change has been made aboard the Disney Dream.
Star Wars Play Area on the Disney Dream
Children on the Disney Dream will get a chance to fly the Millennium Falcon at the Oceaneer Club on the Disney Dream. A newly built play area will let kids sit in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and guide the iconic ship on series of hyperspace jumps across the galaxy. There are also a lot of hidden details with certain button sequences unlocking sound effects from the movies, and the attentive will note small details like Chewbacca’s bowcaster subtly placed throughout. A space where visitors can use the force to move boxes will also be featured. The hologram chess table from the movie is present, but you can’t play hologram chess. Instead you’ll have to use the provided iPad. The new Galaxy Builders program lets kids build their own X-wings, TIE fighters, or Star Destroyer from modeling clay and foam. The play area is only for kids ages 3 to 12, but there is an open house where parents get to take the controls. Whether or not they’ll willingly relinquish them when its over remains to be seen.
Other Star Wars cruise activities include the Jedi Academy that is also part of the Disney Fantasy’s programs, where children can learn the proper light saber forms. A half hour storybook version of the movie where children play the characters should also prove popular.
The Dream also features a space dedicated to Disney’s popular Infinity toy/video game hybrid. Star Wars is new to the game as of release 3.0 which had its debut in August. Cruisers who join the Oceaneer club on the Disney Dream will receive a “magic band” that can be used to unlock exclusive content in the game even when they return home. While no Star Wars exclusives are known at this time, the space is new, and it would be a surprise if Disney didn’t find a way to commemorate them in game somehow.
