Tropical Storm Joaquin became a hurricane as of 8 AM Wednesday. Currently just east of the Bahamas, Joaquin is predicted to head north and make landfall in the New England states in a track reminiscent of Hurricane Sandy’s in 2012. There is a lot of uncertainty in the predicted track of this storm. Some models predict landfall in the Carolinas or Virginia. Others see Joaquin turning east and heading farther out to sea before petering out in the mid-Atlantic.
What seems certain is that Joaquin will bring wind and soaking rain to the Bahamas. What this means for the cruise ships and their passengers is not yet known. The cruise lines have yet to announce any itinerary or destination changes. We will be keeping track of, and sharing, any announcements made throughout the day.
