PORT CANAVERAL, FL— May 17, 2012 – Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas will replace the departing Monarch of the Seas and will undergo a revitalization in December to prepare for its 2013 debut as a homeported vessel at Port Canaveral.

Enchantment of the Seas will sail every Monday and Friday offering three- and four-night voyages year-round from Port Canaveral starting on April 25. Both itineraries will call at Nassau, Bahamas and CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas. Enchantment of the Seas currently makes port of call visits to Port Canaveral during its winter itinerary from Baltimore to the Bahamas.

“Royal Caribbean International thanks CEO Stan Payne and his administration’s continued support of Royal Caribbean,” said Adam Goldstein, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “Port Canaveral has been a great partner for a very long time and we are thrilled that Enchantment of the Seas will complement Freedom of the Seas to offer vacationers convenient year-round options from Florida’s Space Coast.”

In addition to its refreshed spaces, Enchantment of the Seas will offer guests more onboard amenities, including Royal Caribbean’s signature Chops Grille steakhouse specialty restaurant. Enchantment of the Seas is the largest cruise ship ever to be lengthened, undergoing the impressive engineering feet in an unprecedented 31 days in July 2005. The extension added a new 73-foot mid-section.

“We are delighted to be chosen as the home port for a ship we’ve come to know well on its calls from the Port of Baltimore,” said Port Canaveral CEO Stan Payne. “I think it is an understatement to say I expect the Enchantment to be received enthusiastically by Port Canaveral cruisers.” Monarch of the Seas’ last sailing from Port Canaveral is March 29, It is being transferred to Royal Caribbean’s sister cruise line Pullmantur in Spain.
